August 29, 2025 – After days of tense negotiations, YouTube TV and Fox Corporation have reached a new agreement to keep all Fox channels on the streaming platform, ending speculation that a blackout was imminent.
The renewed deal ensures that Fox News, Fox Sports, Fox Business, and local Fox affiliates will remain available to YouTube TV’s more than five million subscribers. The agreement came just hours before the previous contract was set to expire.
In a statement released Friday night, Google, which owns YouTube TV, confirmed the renewal:
“We’ve reached an agreement with Fox to keep their content on YouTube TV and preserve the value of our service for subscribers.”
Fox Corporation echoed the announcement, saying it was “pleased to continue its partnership with YouTube TV” and looked forward to delivering “live news, sports, and entertainment programming without interruption.”
Days of Uncertainty for Subscribers
The dispute began earlier in the week when YouTube TV warned that if a new carriage deal wasn’t signed by August 27, all Fox networks could be pulled from the service. The two sides agreed to a short-term extension to avoid immediate disruption while talks continued.
Fox had reportedly pushed for higher distribution fees, citing the value of its sports and news programming. YouTube, meanwhile, emphasized keeping subscription prices stable for customers, a familiar standoff in the streaming industry.
By August 28 at 9 PM ET, both sides confirmed a multi-year deal, ending the uncertainty and ensuring that Fox channels remained live throughout the weekend, crucial timing for sports fans ahead of college football and NFL coverage.
No Service Changes for Users
The new agreement means no interruption in access for YouTube TV users. All existing Fox channels, including FS1, FS2, Fox Deportes, and local broadcast stations, remain part of the standard lineup.
YouTube TV also confirmed that no price changes are being introduced immediately as part of the deal. Subscribers can continue to stream Fox content as usual across mobile, smart TV, and web platforms.
Industry Context
Carriage disputes like this one are becoming increasingly common as networks and streaming platforms renegotiate distribution costs. Similar conflicts have occurred between YouTube TV and Disney in 2021 and DirecTV and CBS in 2019.
